Let the FTC Help You with Your Credit Repair

All you need to improve your own credit is a copy of your credit report and a dispute letter template. That’s right; that is your whole FREE credit repair kit! You can do your own credit repair without credit repair clinics and it is entirely FREE. In fact, that’s what the FTC recommends you do. Why spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars paying a credit repair company to do what you can do for yourself?

This .gov site also provides you with a sample dispute letter you can use to dispute items on your credit report. Simply tailor that letter to the dispute you want to make, address it to the correct reporting company (Equifax, Experian, and/or TransUnion), and send your letter(s) out.

Of course, anyone can easily find plenty of other dispute letter templates available online. Judging from the ones I have found, they all say generally the same thing and any of them will do the trick. You can definitely surf around to find a sample letter you like and use it, but the one on the FTC’s site will work fine. The site basically provides you with a free credit repair kit you can use to repair your credit all on your own. The only charge will be the printing and stamping of the letters, plus whatever time you have to spend doing it. The bottom line, though, is that repairing your own credit will save you gobs of dollars as compared to paying a credit repair company to do it for you.
